I am a returning student who already graduated from college many years ago and recently retired. College can be very difficult with many challenges and setbacks. It is a lot of work and it definitely has its ups and downs. Throughout my previous college experiences, I learned how to persevere and continue on when times became difficult. I learned that right before you reach your goal is often the most important time to buckle down and not stop your work flow. Just because you can see light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t mean you’ve reached the end yet. Sometimes that is the time when your most unexpected hurdles come out of nowhere.
Most importantly, pursuing my passion always gave me the fuel to keep on going. I couldn’t have done it without taking advantage of all the resources that college had to offer and I learned how to be responsible and make decisions.
I became organized and goal oriented. College does that to you. The Resurrection Hero is almost to the end but has to start making important decisions regarding his/her future. He/she must decide whether or not to continue going to college or to start looking for a job. In addition, there are decisions to make regarding whether or not he/she needs help preparing their resume or help preparing for interviews.
I learned that I didn’t have enough experiences listed on my resume and needed to figure out how to gain more experience. This was a stressful time since many decisions needed to be made. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the assistance available and had to learn how to feel comfortable asking for help. It took me awhile to learn that it is important to seek out the many resources that are available to help.
The setting for my Step 11 Infographic is Springtime. Fresh flowers are plentiful. Signs are posted along the path to pose questions in order to help the decision-making process. This is a time where friendships and good relationships are important. Good friends help in decision making and to provide solace in times of stress. Dogs represent “Man’s best friend,” and can be a great comfort. They also are associated with luck. Being cognizant of these various keys to success helped me move on to the final step, Step 12, The Return to Elixir.
