Ki-Ki Cordola

Color in UD, UX, UI & how the GPP of a robot would relate.

Most people have a favorite color. Sometimes it changes or sometimes they may have more than one, but it’s a question you can ask people and you will get a wide variety of answers. My favorite color has always been green. However I know people that hate the color green. My 70 year old co-worker loved the color purple. She had purple hair, a purple truck and always wore something purple to work. My old boss had his main office painted bright red. He loved it. But not everyone did.

Many studies have been done on color and what types of feelings and moods various colors can elicit. People have strong attractions and aversions to certain colors. So, yes, color does make a difference. And yes, it does matter for Universal Design, User Experience and User Interface. Companies pay a lot of money to have the right colors and color combinations to attract customers.

Studies have shown that colors do have meaning or messages of their own, and have demonstrated to produce certain emotions or feelings. Red has been found to be related to energy, action and passion. Orange has been related to social communication and optimism. Green has been associated with balance and growth.

The GPP of a robot and it’s relation to it’s color would be dependent on who programmed it and what colors they used since there is such a wide array of color preferences by individuals and groups.
